Vacancies at Middleton Cheney Parish Council
Following the resignation of a number of Councillors, Middleton Cheney Parish Council now has so many vacancies that it can no longer act.
The Parish Council can have up to twelve Councillors, and there must be at least four Councillors for the Parish Council to be able to make decisions and take actions. There are now only three Councillors (Mark Allen (Chair), Kristian Burgess, and Tom Rice), which means that the remaining Councillors cannot hold meetings or make decisions legally.
In situations like this where a Parish Council has so many vacancies that it cannot act, the primary authority, West Northamptonshire Council in our case, has the power to appoint Councillors so that the Parish Council is able to carry out its duties and functions. This process has begun, and we will update you when Councillors have been appointed.
