On the 11th June 2018. A meeting was held in the Parish meeting Room of Middleton Cheney to start up a new branch of the British Legion in Middleton Cheney. Fifteen residents turned out, the required amount to form a branch. The same meeting was held in the school rooms at Middleton Primary School in 1931 on the 9th April, with the chair position going to Rev. R. W. Peddler.

This year sees the 100th Anniversary of the end of WW1 in 1918. The 11th of Nov Armistice falls on a Sunday. The day will be broken into 6 parts. Firstly, the bagpipes will be playing at 6:00am, followed be the wreaths being moved to the war memorial in the church yard.

The Service will Start at 9:30am, with the parade starting at 9:00am at Cheney court. After the service there will be the laying of the wreaths at the war shrine, then a poppy dinner at the social club, tickets will be available in sept for the poppy dinner.

At around 2:30pm the School Field will remain open to allow for stalls and two display events. At around 7:00pm the village beacon will be lit followed by the church bells. After this we will then head to our Branch Headquarters at the Dolphin, which was the MC Branch Head Quarters in 1931. For a Drink and a sing song.

This is Just an overshot and a full Program will be available from September covering the whole weeks activities.

Just a note the scouts and guides groups of Middleton Cheney will be putting on a Gang Show, which will be the first time this has happened. This will kick off the week at All saints Church on Sat 3rd Nov. Tickets will also be available in Sept, so Support. All proceeds from this go towards the church roof appeal.

Please get a program when they become available and note the legion will be soon setting up a 100 Club to get the funds together to buy the standard.
