William BARRETT 1866-1945 and his family

William BARRETT 1866-1945 and his family

This cottage that is marked as No. 5 in your heritage trail walk. This cottage was home to William BARRETT 1866-1945 and his family. William BARRETT was born on March 19, 1866, in Marston St Lawrence, Northamptonshire and first married Mary Jane Barrett and they had eight children together at some point in time he moved to Middleton. His second wife was a widow Elizabeth BAKER (nee FRANKLIN). The cottage has a rather lovely sign on the gable end "William Barrett – Plumber, Glazier, Painter & Paperhanger". Standing outside we believe to be his first wife Mary Jane (1860-1911), although we are not 100% certain as we do not have any other photographs of her to compare against and two of his daughters Cecily Ann Barret born 1905 and Ena Mary born 1898.
